Case Study JG

braces Removal at 52 weeks

Patient: John G., 25 years old

Problem: John has a severe overbite and crowding of his upper and lower teeth. He also has a crossbite on his right side.

Treatment: John was prescribed traditional metal braces for his upper and lower teeth. The treatment lasted for 52 weeks (12 months, 6 days)

Procedure: Metal brackets and wires were attached to John’s teeth. The orthodontist made regular adjustments to the wire tension to gradually move John’s teeth into the desired position. John also received elastic bands to wear to help correct the crossbite.

Challenges: John experienced some discomfort in the first few days after the braces were put on and after adjustments. He also had difficulty cleaning his teeth effectively with the braces in place.

Solution: John was given over-the-counter pain relievers to help with the initial discomfort and was taught proper oral hygiene techniques to maintain healthy teeth and gums while wearing the braces.

Outcome: After 52 weeks of treatment, John’s overbite and crowding were corrected, and the crossbite on his right side was also corrected. He now has a beautiful, straight smile and improved bite function.

Conclusion: Traditional metal braces are a highly effective treatment option for correcting severe overbites, crowding, and crossbites. With proper care and regular adjustments, patients can achieve a straighter, healthier smile that can last a lifetime.
